On a Sunday evening, tucked away in HandleBar, Stoke Newington, Whipped Cream Productions and VolVentures Films premiered their latest short film Cat Sitting. 

Whipped Cream Productions, the brain child of Director/producer Wollie Boehm, is a collective of like-minded women & queer filmmakers who have been making short films including animation together for the last three years. This screening was a chance for the creative and talented women to show case their creations.

Happily, they line up was a treat of five shorts in all. First up was Saying Sorry that debuted at the Bar Wotever Film Festival last year. A lovely piece capturing the nuances of female-female relationships.

Ellie Mumford's two animated music videos came next - the quirky puppets of 'Nobody' and the expressive claymation dog in 'The dog song' were very endearing and filled with humour and pathos.

He Loves Me came with a twist as the vixenous siren-esque villain makes her way through London's early-20s male population.

And to the main event, latest piece Cat Sitting. A clear evolution from the earlier works into this very polished and well-produced short. A lovely story with a satisfying conclusion and a lot of fun on the way - a story for every lesbian who is still friends with their ex but doesn't know why.
Fantastic humorous and sympathetic acting from both leads, Lauren Karl and Laura Jane, alongside two very cute cats, kept the audience hooked, as we wondered what kind of ex could possibly have given up on both of these wonderful characters. And then rejoice as they exact a little karma and perhaps some closure for themselves.

Keep an eye out for Cat Sitting at future screenings & film festivals.
